General:
Densely tufted perennial from a taproot, forming compact tussocks; stems 1-5 cm tall, hairy with simple and branched hairs.
Leaves:
All basal leaves withering but persistent, in a densely crowded rosette, long-hairy on upper surface with simple and branched hairs, hairy with branched, crosslike and starlike hairs on lower surface; stem leaves lacking.
Flowers:
Racemes 2- to 8-flowered; petals pale yellow.
Fruits:
Silicles, elliptic-oblong, rarely twice as long as wide, hairy with short, simple and branched hairs; styles 0.3-0.7 mm long.

Habitat / Range

Mesic to dry meadows in the alpine zone; rare in NW BC; N to AK, YT and NT and E to PQ.
